As part of an mFUND r&d project, research data on parking search traffic was collected through the app. Users received interesting information about their parking behavior.
Through the start2park app, research data on parking search traffic was collected at many different locations and times of the day, and factors influencing the parking search time were determined. These data were aggregated and analyzed as part of the research project start2park - Capturing, Understanding, and Predicting Parking Search.
The mFUND project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). On the one hand, it aims to identify factors for traffic planning through a statistical explanatory model. On the other hand, the collected precise parking search times and routes were used to train a predictive model. This enabled the research team to make predictions about parking search times for individual trips, which can be used for various purposes in the future.
All individuals interested in climate-friendly mobility or frustrated with the search for parking spaces were invited to regularly use the start2park app and record their parking searches. By doing so, you not only supported research for sustainable and smart mobility but also gained insights into how much time you personally spend searching for parking.
With this app you can experience how usage data has been previously recorded in a demo mode. For more information about the project, please visit: https://www.fluxguide.com/projects/start2park/"
